I use ubuntu 8.10 on one of my machines, which I basically use as a home network server. After doing an update last night (Dec. 11) I woke up this morning and find that my openssh server is no longer working on this machine. I have tried several things to get it working again, even going so far as to completely remove openssh-server package and re-install, but nothing seems to work so far. The error I'm getting is 'connection refused' and a port scan of this machine does not show port 22 as open (not sure if it should, but I believe so).

I sure would appreciate any help to get this back running again, especially since I've become heavily reliant on ssh with my setup.
